Municipality of Sioux Lookout

SL-Logo-FC-billingualSioux Lookout connects over 30,000 people in 29 remote northern First Nations communities to a state-of-the-art hospital and related health care, social and education services. The area has been on major growth curve with $250 million in capital projects recently completed under the Economic Development Strategic Plan 2009-2014, including a new state-of-the-art hospital, heritage railway station redevelopment, downtown revitalization, MNR fire management centre, airport marketing strategy and an increased demand for serviced residential, commercial and industrial land.

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is again being faced with increased growth and development. This spring, Keewatin Patricia District School Board announced they will be building a new state-of-the-art 30 million dollar secondary school. The Municipality confirmed they are proceeding with a $12.5 million dollar expansion of its municipal airport and the recent developments in the Ring of Fire have led to discussions with the Province on an East-West transportation corridor which the terminus is located at the junction of Hwy 599 and the Sioux Lookout Highway 72.
